Long Term Care: A Social Investment

This Nordic Talks will discuss how generous long term care services is an essential social investment in the Nordic countries. Prof. Virpi Timonen, Dr. Nat O’Connor and Prof. Karen Anderson will discuss how accessible long-term care prevents poverty among the elderly, how it increases equal labour force participation and ultimately reduces social inequality. However, there are many challenges that needs to be addressed before it can work. The Nordic Talk will discuss, together with the audience, which steps that are required to make the Irish long term care provision more universal.
