Instead of the negative aspects of mass tourism and the idea of losing the authenticity of local cultures, this Nordic Talks explores positive heritage branding and place marketing. How do you brand a place “in the middle of nowhere”, and what kind of consequences has place branding had during the last two decades? With the understanding that branding practices are connected to political and cultural processes, the talk will dive into the topic of how Scotland, especially after Brexit, has started to construct connections to the Nordic region.
