Nordic Talks Japan - Design and Sustainability

Design can be a useful tool to build sustainable and inclusive societies. The Nordics have a history of using human-centric approaches in developing products, services, cities and infrastructure, which take the needs of its citizens, and the planet, into consideration. This culture is nurtured in our educational institutions and multidisciplinary approaches to teaching. At the same time, the intercultural exchange of design between Japan and the Nordics continues to be significant. Through the exchange of people, knowledge, culture and physical and digital artifacts, we can widen the concept of design beyond physicality and understand its potential in creating sustainable societies.

In this Nordic Talk, we will explore how design, design thinking and desig tools can be used as methods in creating inclusive and sustainable societies, and what we can learn from each othersʼ regions and experts across different disciplines.
