Nordic Talks Korea

Air quality and Health Impact

South Korea has a very long history of air pollution. The rapid industrialization of the nation starting in the 1960s led to widespread adoption of nuclear and coal power, manufacturing factories and massive construction projects spewing pollutants into the air, as well as an economic boom that put an unprecedented number of cars on the streets. A plethora of other factors also aggravates the already delicate issue of air pollution, which most Korean people claim as their number one complaint about their country.

This Nordic Talks Korea event will highlight and discuss the positive effects green transition can have on public health in South Korea and will deep-dive into two topics:
Session 1: Air quality - The Link to Climate Change and Need for Global Response
Session 2: Air quality - The Health Impact and Long Term Costs
