‘Nordic Talks’ is a series of talks and podcasts addressing the biggest global challenges. 

Through conversations with some of the brightest minds in the Nordics and their counterparts from around the world we want to provide a space for contemplation and to share inspiration on how to take action on sustainability issues in our everyday lives. All Nordic Talks are dedicated to addressing the UN's Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) challenges.

Claudia Chwalisz

Claudia Chwalisz (Canada)

Claudia Chwalisz is leading the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's work on innovative citizen participation, which explores the paradigm change underway towards a more participatory, deliberative, and collaborative governance. In June 2020, the OECD published its first report on this topic was published: Innovative Citizen Participation and New Democratic Institutions, which she co-authored with Ieva Cesnulaityte.

Zakia Elvang

Zakia Elvang (Denmark)

Zakia Elvang is the founder and a partner in the Danish consulting agency We Do Democracy and leads the Demokrati Garage NGO. She describes herself as a democracy activist and entrepreneur fighting for more and better democracy. She focuses on how to design, organize and drive democratic processes – and has a life-long interest in learning, large scale and system-based change, mobilization and interaction. She is also a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Innovative Citizen Participation network.

Roberta Iley (United Kingdom)

Roberta Iley is a principal change designer at Forum for the Future, a leading international sustainability non-profit. Much of her time is focused on leading the Protein Challenge 2040, a collaboration involving industry and NGOs, which aims to tackle the question: How do we provide up to 10 billion people with enough protein in a way that is healthy, affordable and good for the planet?

Pasi Vainikka (Finland)

Pasi Vainikka is the co-founder and CEO of Solar Foods, a Finnish start-up that has developed a complete protein made from carbon dioxide, air and electricity. The company aims to begin the commercial production of this environmentally revolutionary natural protein source during 2020.

Olavur Gregersen (Faroe Islands)

Olavur Gregersen is the managing director and co-founder of Ocean Rainforest, one of the largest seaweed cultivation companies in Europe. He frequently speaks as an expert on seaweed cultivation and the blue bioeconomy. He is a member of the Nordic Bioeconomy Panel and a member of the European Blue Bioeconomy Forum Steering Group working for DG Mare in EU.

Wendy Woods (U.S.)

Wendy Woods is Vice Chairman, Social Impact and Managing Director & Senior Partner at Boston Consulting Group. Her expertise spans global development, global health, education, climate and environment, humanitarian response, total societal impact and sustainability, and sustainable finance and investing. She helps clients rethink businesses' role in society, create sustainable strategies, and drive positive change. Wendy has given two TED talks: “The business benefits of doing good” and “Collective cooperation in the social sector.”



All Nordic Talks are dedicated to addressing the SDG challenges. We want to inspire each other to act – for a better, more sustainable future.
